Beijing, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) — Wei Mengjia and Yang NaAccording to the Development Report of the Belt and Road Digital Trade Index released at the China International Trade in Services Fair in 2020, most of the digital trade between countries along the Belt and Road and China shows good development status in recent years, with broad prospects and huge potential for the development of digital trade.

The report by electronic industry publishing house, China’s industrial society, Internet research institute, China electronics aims to find out the number of countries along the “area” trade development present situation, help the government and enterprises grasp the digital economy of countries along the new opportunity, boosting the number of countries along the “area” trade international industrial cooperation.

It is learned that the report mainly measured the development of digital trade between China and 30 countries along the One Belt And One Road, including Russia, Thailand, Turkey, Singapore, India and the Czech republic, covering South Asia, southeast Asia, central Asia and central and eastern Europe.The development situation and development potential of digital trade are reflected through six first-level indicators, namely, trade relationship, trade potential, trade basis, trade environment, trade risk and trade level.

The report shows that, on the whole, Asian countries have closer cooperation with China in “One Belt And One Road” digital trade. Among the top 10 countries in the comprehensive index, 7 are Asian countries, among which 5 are located in southeast Asia and belong to asean countries.At the same time, the digital trade index of India, Israel, Iran, Serbia and other countries has maintained a continuous rising trend over the past five years, while Singapore and Turkey have also performed well, with annual growth rates reaching 19% and 11% respectively in 2018.In addition, there are still some countries with a relatively weak digital economy foundation and great space for cooperation and development.

At the third One Belt And One Road forum on trade and cooperation in services, a number of experts pointed out that although the epidemic has hit the world economy hard, it has made services such as telemedicine, online education, sharing platforms, collaborative work and cross-border e-commerce more widely used and boosted the development of the digital economy.With the growing desire of countries to boost their economies, the construction of the “digital silk road” will bring more new opportunities for the economic and trade recovery and development of countries along the “One Belt And One Road”.
